Wychwood Maximiser 5 Season Sleeping Bag
Wychwood Maximiser Sleeping Bag
I recently purchased the Wychwood Maximiser 5 Season Sleeping bag and used it at the Carp Connection Spring Social for the first time.

The weather conditions couldn't have been better to try this out, as we suffered with high winds, heavy rain and a cold morning frost. I chose this sleeping bag initially because of the price, the RRP is around £60 depending on where you purchase from, and also because of what you get for your money.

The sleeping bag is fitted with double crash zips with velcro fasteners at the top, peachskin top layer, bed-safe fixings, which include two hoods and a central securing strap, draw-cord hood and welly wipe.

Unlike most popular 5 season sleeping bags this one is not fleece lined, infact it is quilted, (old school) which I personally prefer as fleece lined bags tend to twist when you roll over. Back to the field test, the bag attached to my bedchair easily and I was looking forward to my first nights kip, which it just so happened I got plenty of as my bite-alarms were as quiet as a mouse. I found the crash zips to run smooth and the draw-cord hood was well appreciated. It also has a cord that you can pull tight across your chest which I chose not to use.

Through the evening, my bivvy filled with condensation and froze in the morning but I was warm and dry in the bag. I had plenty of room and was able to move about comfortably without the bag following me, the bag is 95in x 45in (242cm x 114cm).

Actually there was only ONE bad thing that I have bad to report on. YES, I was warm but I had added extra layers of clothing before climbing into bed, which it turned out I needed!!

To sum up, this is a good bag for the money. You get all the extras that you get with a lot of the more expensive bags but at half of the price. Just remember to wear some extra layers, as the so called unique quilted liner which boasts triple-layer lining is not as good as the sleeping bag and Wychwood may claim. Maybe when you climb in to bed and find that your not as warm as you would have hoped just dream of the money you've saved.

I recommend this sleeping bag to all those who perhaps don't go out in the harshest of weather!!
